Senator Montford recognized for supporting public libraries

Our state senator, Bill Montford, has been recognized by the Florida Library Association with the legislative award for 2014 for his outstanding support for public libraries.

This year aid to public libraries was increased by $5 million dollars.

Franklin County received an increase of over 17, 600 dollars for our local libraries.

For Gulf County it meant an additional 10,600 dollars for its library system.

Senator Montford, who was once a high school Principal and Superintendent of Schools said he knows firsthand that families and students rely on the public library for a place to learn, study and grow.

He added that rural areas benefit especially from access to a library and he is proud to support their continued efforts.
