State considering adding more camping and bike paths to SGI state park

The state is considering some updates to the management plan for the State park on st. George Island, and they’d like to find out what the public thinks about them.

The management plan spells out the various uses of the park and any proposed changes that park may see over the next 10 years.

Some of the updates being proposed include creating a 30-site camping loop to expand family camping opportunities as well as adding more primitive campsites.
The state park would also like to add six cabins and a 30 slip boat dock for boat camping complete with a picnic pavilion and bathhouse.
And they would like to provide bike lanes on each side of the main road in the park

There will be a public meeting this month to let the public weigh in on the proposed changes – that will be held on Tuesday, November the 18th at 7 Pm at the Fire House on s. George Island.
