Apalachee Regional Planning council seeks 400K Brownsfield grant

Franklin County is throwing its support behind a grant application that could help find polluted sites around the area.
The commission last week gave its support to the Apalachee Regional Planning Council in their application for a $400 thousand dollar Brownsfield grant through the Environmental Protection Agency.
The grant would allow the ARPC to identify properties in Northwest Florida that might pose pollution risks like abandoned gas stations or other sites that might have aging underground fuel tanks.

Once the sites are located its hoped there might be grant money available to help clean them up.
