County commission wants to know where Franklin County's weather went

County Commissioners want to know why Franklin County’s weather isn’t showing up on the Weather Channel.

The board agreed last week to send a letter to the Weather Channel asking that Apalachicola be added to the channels list of weather announcements.

Commissioners said it was there for years but has disappeared recently – the closest local weather you can see on the channel is Port St. Joe and that doesn’t help when you’re heading out on the Apalachicola bay.

Smokey Parrish said he has received complaints from his constituents and he feels the Weather Channel should at least be willing to hear the county out.

He said if the company doesn’t respond to the county’s letter maybe they can get a public campaign going until the company does respond.

There was a move a few years ago to have St. George Island added to the weather list but it was rejected because St. George Island doesn’t have its own post office.
