Forgotten Coast Chef Sampler

Chefs from all over the Forgotten Coast will prepare their most creative dishes at the historic Fort Coombs Armory located on 4th street and Avenue D in Apalachicola. Sample an array from our area restaurants and local Chefs. Our talented shopkeepers and local designers give the event an extraordinary touch and add creative flair by decorating each table individually. The tables range from elegant to artistic and funky. The Crew of Salty Barkers

The Mystic Krewe of Salty Barkers, a parade unit of dogs and their people, invites you to join inon Saturday, February 7, 2015. This year's theme is Barkaritaville. Dress yourself and your dog in tropical parrothead costumes and  
celebrate Mardi Gras Apalach style! You may walk, ride in golf carts, 
 
pull wagons, push strollers, or come up with any other unique form of 
transportation. Floats are allowed and this may be the only place you'll 
 
see oyster boats in a parade. The day's events, for the benefit of our 
 local animal shelter and for the Apalachicola Dog Park, begins at 1:00 pm at the Bowery and winds through town, ending at the dog-friendly Bowery Station where the party will continue with live music, dancing, Cajun food, games, and contests.Parade registration is $5.00 per person. Dogs, of course, are free. Golf carts, floats, and boats are $20. Dogs are still free. Admission to the fais do-do at Bowery Station is free for everyone. All donations are tax-deductible and are for the benefit of the shelter and dog park.

Downtown ApalachicolaThe 5th Annual Oyster Cook-Off to benefit the Apalachicola Volunteer Fire Department will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2015. The Friday evening event will be a preview of the oyster-related silent auction items, along with a sampling of the Apalachicola Bay's tasty bivalves6:00-8:00 pm. The actual cook-offon Saturday will start at 12 noon, Judging and Bands starts at 2:00.  Contestants are encouraged to enter with their favorite recipe. All forms of oysters will be available to taste: raw, steamed, fried. Other food items and refreshments will be available for purchase also. The day's activities will include live music and dancing performances. More information will be posted soon atwww.oystercookoff.com, and the event can be followed on Facebook.


Habitat for Humanity's Mardi Gras Celebration will be onFebruary 6thFriday, the Mystic Krewe of Salty Barkers invites you to a parade of dogs and their people. Dress yourself and your dog as your favorite character or wear traditional Mardi Gras attire. The parade begins at 5:30 pm at the intersection of Avenue F and Commerce Street (near the chamber office and visitors center) and continues down Commerce to the Courthouse, then left & left again onto Water Street up to the  Riverfront Park where the party will continue with live music, dancing, Cajun food, and other festivities for the whole family. Saturday night is the Mardi Gras Dinner and Ball at the Armory.  There will be music, dancing and a floor show, plus the crowning of the Mardi Gras king and queen. Dinner tickets are $50.00, 6:30 pm, and general admission $25.00 at 7:30pm. For tickets and information call Kayd at (850) 653-3113 or Caroline (850) 670-5064.
