County will soon move into new annex in Carrabelle

The Courthouse annex in Carrabelle will soon be in its new location.
Franklin County recently purchased the Superior Bank Building in Carrabelle for 235 thousand dollars.
Commissioners say the new location will be more convenient for residents and will provide better security for county workers and it has a vault which the tax collectors office needs.
In a letter to the county commission, Tax collector James Harris said that the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicle equipment and the tax system will be moved to the new location on January the 22nd and 23rd, which means the Carrabelle annex will be closed on those days.
The telephone system will also be moved on that day.
The building also came with 5 city lots which commissioners hope can be put to good use by providing more services to the county including a mobile driver’s license office.
The tentative date to open the new annex is January the 26th.

The County plans to hold an open house for the new annex building very soon after it opens.
