Man arrested for making threats against Wakullla County Sheriff

The Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 67-year-old Crawfordville man in connection with threats made against Sheriff Charlie Creel on Friday, Jan. 16.

Ronald Ray Canada of 54 Churchill Drive was arrested at his home. WCSO Dispatch received information that Canada wanted to harm the Sheriff and he wanted deputies and the Department of Homeland Security to be in route.

Lt. Jimmy Sessor, Sgt. Danny Harrell and Deputy Taylor Saladin responded to the scene and asked the subject to come out of the house. The subject refused to show his hands from behind his back. The subject refused to comply with the commands of the deputies at first, but was secured without incident inside his home.
Canada made threats toward the Sheriff and other law enforcement officers and was transported to the Wakulla County Jail without incident. He faces a felony charge of making threats of harming a public servant and a misdemeanor charge of resisting an officer without violence.

“The Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office always takes threats like these seriously, but that is particularly true with the climate in our society at the present time,” said Sheriff Charlie Creel. “Mr. Canada remains in the Wakulla County Jail pending his first appearance.”
