The
Apalachicola Center for History, Culture and Art will hold an opening night reception
on Friday for an art show featuring works from a local after school program.
The Project
Impact Deconstruction /Reconstruction exhibit comprises over 50 pottery
bowls and tiles created by students from 5 to 17 years of age.
Pottery instructor Kirby
Gregory has worked with the students for the past 3 months to create the
collection.
The display also
includes over 10 mixed media pieces created using recycled materials presented
in new and interesting ways.
The opening night
reception will be Friday evening from 5:30 to 7:30.
The exhibit
will be on display through February 4th at the Apalachicola Center for History,
Culture and Art on Water Street in Apalachicola.
The City of
Apalachicola supports two after school programs through Project Impact at the
City's Municipal Complex and at the Apalachicola Bay Charter School.
The services are
provided free of charge and include homework help, targeted tutoring, and recreational
activities.
