The U.S. Department of Housing
and Urban Development awarded 48 million dollars to Florida agencies to make
major large-scale improvements to their public housing units.
That includes about 71 thousand for the Housing Authority of the
City of Apalachicola and almost 480 thousand dollars for the Northwest Florida
Regional Housing Authority.
The grants are provided to build,
repair, and modernize the public housing in communities around the US.
The improvements can include replacing roofs or making
energy-efficient upgrades to replace old plumbing and electrical systems.
