Department of Transportation taking first steps toward extending the Carrabelle multi-use path

The Florida Department of Transportation is beginning the process of extending the Carrabelle multi-use path from Carrabelle beach to River road and is seeking public comment on their plans.
Once complete, the path would allow people to bike or walk from the Carrabelle lighthouse to Carrabelle bridge.
The mile long project would include about 2500 feet of elevated boardwalk.
The project will require the state to acquire additional right of way south of Highway 98 – DOT says it is in the process of contact neighboring property owners now.
Property owners within 300 feet on the project should receive a public information handout explaining the program and how it might impact them.
The right of way acquisition is partially funded for 2019 though construction of the path has not yet been funded.
People with questions, concerns or comments should contact the general consultant project manager at tommy.johns@atkinsglobal.com.

Comments will be accepted through March 4th
