Snook - Gulf  Action: Season opens March 1 Information:  The recreational harvest season for snook in Gulf state and federal waters including Monroe County and Everglades National Park will open March 1. Links for more information: Snook [MyFWC.com] Barracuda - Workshops Action: Two workshops scheduled for March Information: The public is invited to attend one of two public workshops on barracuda scheduled early March. At these workshops, FWC will gather stakeholder input on potential commercial and recreational bag limits, size limits, gear restrictions, region-specific regulations and other related management options for barracuda. Links for more information: Workshops [MyFWC.com] Red Snapper - Workshops Action: Five workshops scheduled for March Information: The public is invited to attend any of five public workshops on the recreational red snapper season in Gulf of Mexico state waters. At these workshops, FWC will gather stakeholder input on a proposed season that would start theSaturday before Memorial Day and run through Sunday, July 12, resume for all of Labor Day weekend and finish with Saturdays and Sundays throughout  September and October, with the last day of harvest being Sunday, Nov. 1. This proposed season would result in a 70-day season for 2015. This season was the preferred option discussed by Commissioners during the February meeting in Jacksonville. Staff will present results from these workshops to the Commission at its April meeting in Tallahassee, where the Commission is expected to make a final decision about what the recreational season will be in Gulf state waters.
