Franklin
County Commissioners are moving forward with a plan to add a regulation sized
T-ball field to Vrooman Park in Eastpoint.
The board agreed last week to
seek bids from companies that can replace the existing T-ball field, which is
too small, with a regulation sized field with all of the required fencing.
Once that work is done the county
plans to replace the playground equipment at the park.
The work is being paid for
through a state FURDAP grant.
County planner Alan Pierce said
in order to get a regulation sized field at the site it will require that the paved
walking trail in that area of the park be moved back about 12 feet.
He didn’t think the county could
afford to have that section repaved under the grant – he recommended the county
replace that section with limerock or concrete.
Commissioners Pinki Jackel and
William Massey said they do not want limerock there.
If needed, they will share the
cost to repave or concrete the walk from their paving funds.
