FDOT Historical Transportation Exhibit to open in Chipley
Chipley, FL – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will sponsor a public open-house, commemorating the opening of a historical transportation exhibit on Monday, April 6. The display will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. CDT, in the FDOT District Three Administration Building, 1074 Highway 90, Chipley. A special presentation will take place at 1 p.m.
The exhibit will include historical transportation items (e.g., photographs, engineering/surveying tools, drafting instruments, maps, etc.) as well as portraits of all the former District Three Secretaries. Current and former FDOT officials are invited to attend the historical event.
This year, the Florida Department of Transportation celebrates its centennial anniversary by honoring the significant transportation milestones that have taken place in Florida during the past 100 years. In honor of the anniversary, a team of Florida Department of Transportation employees from Chipley joined together to create a permanent historical transportation exhibit about District Three.
Donated or loaned items are being accepted to expand the exhibit. Those wishing to add to the collection should contact Greg Vickery at 850-330-1529 or greg.vickery@dot.state.fl.us.
FDOT District Three covers sixteen counties in northwest Florida - Bay, Calhoun, Escambia, Franklin, Gadsden, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson, Jefferson, Leon, Liberty, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Wakulla, Walton, and Washington.
