Local sheriff's deputy to take part in Special Olympics torch run on Tuesday

Local Sheriff’s deputy Wayne Nash will run the Franklin County leg of the Special Olympics torch run on Tuesday.

For the past 15 years the Franklin County sheriff’s office has taken part in the Special Olympics torch run, which is a way to draw attention to the games and to raise money to send athletes to the Special Olympics.

Wayne will star the run Tuesday morning at 9 at the ABC school and run through Apalachicola to Battery Park.

At that point he’ll drive to Carrabelle and then run from the Moorings across town to the old Courthouse annex.

Money raised through the event will help fund the Florida Special Olympics and help athletes from around the area make the trip to compete at the state and national level.

If you would like to help out by donating to the cause you can contact Wayne Nash at the Franklin County Sheriff’s office at 670-8500.
