New parking area for Eastpoint boat ramp should be open soon

The new parking area for the Eastpoint Boat ramp should be ready to use soon.

The property is about a half acre across the street from the Eastpoint pavilion – the county bought the land in 2013.

The road camp has been working to clear out the property enough so that trucks with trailers can park there.

They’ve removed three large trees from the property but it is still well shaded.

They have also installed a culvert for drainage and will install fencing on two sides of the parking area.

County officials hope the new parking area will make it easier to use the Eastpoint Boat Ramp by reducing the number of people who park along the roadside at the ramp.
