NOAA announces changes to Red Grouper Fishing rules

NOAA Fisheries has announced changes to the red grouper fishery that take effect in May.
The new rule cuts in half the daily bag limit for red grouper in the Gulf of Mexico from 4 fish a day to 2.
The rule change also remove an existing accountability measure that reduces the red grouper recreational bag limit when the previous year's annual catch limit has been exceeded – that is no longer be needed with the bag limit cut.

The bag limit reduction is intended to improve recreational fishing opportunities by extending the number of days in the fishing season.
