Florida probation Services this week
provided Franklin County with an external audit of the company for 2013 and
2014.
Florida
probation Services is a private company which has handled local
misdemeanor probation services since 2011.
They collect payments from people on probation and monitor community
service hours.
The company was the center of some controversy after one of its
employees was convicted of stealing over 200 thousand dollars in Franklin
County probation payments.
In March
the county extended its contract with Florida Probation services, and at the
time the company agreed to have an
audit done every year to make sure that this type of crime doesn’t happen
again.
On Tuesday
company president Richard Stuart provided an audit done by Howell CPA group –
he said the audit shows that all of the money collected by his company in 2014 was
sent to the county.
He added that
every Tuesday the company sends all money collected the week before.
County
attorney Michael Shuler said he has not had a chance to look over the audit but
will report at the next county commission meeting as to whether the audit meets
the county’s requirements.
