Franklin County to consider allowing fire stations on agricultural property

County Commissioners will hold a public hearing in the near future to make a small change to its zoning code.
The board has been asked to consider allowing fire stations to be listed as a principal use in the A-2 Forestry Agriculture Zoning District.

County Administrative Director Alan Pierce said there are already a number of fire towers and forestry service fire control operations in agriculturally zoned areas.

This change will allow for a new fire station at Alligator Point.

The commission seems willing to make the change but need to hear from the public first.

They have agreed to hold a public hearing so the public can comment on the proposed change.
