Commission Meeting Action: Marine Fisheries items to be discussed June 25 Information:  The FWC Commission will discuss several marine fisheries management items June 25 at the meeting in Sarasota including: Discussions on: Federal fishery management updates Management of forage fish Regulatory changes on: Encouraging the diving public to participate in lionfish removal by allowing spiny lobster harvesters who remove at least 10 lionfish per day to take one lobster per day over the bag limit during the two-day sport season Increasing the greater amberjack size limit in Gulf of Mexico state waters from 30 inches fork length to 34 inches fork length. Changing stone crab trap gear specifications for Collier, Miami-Dade and Monroe counties Modifying commercial harvest regulations for king mackerel Creating a mackerel tournament donation permit Draft rules on: Barracuda: the creation of regulations that would apply in South Florida Links for more information: Commission Meeting [MyFWC.com] Snook - Atlantic Action: Season closes June 1 in state and federal waters Information: The recreational snook season in Atlantic state and federal waters closes June 1, reopening to harvest Sept. 1. This includes all waters of Lake Okeechobee and the Kissimmee River. Links for more information: Snook [MyFWC.com] Amberjack - Gulf Action: Season closes June 1 in state waters Information: The recreational greater amberjack season in Gulf state waters closes June 1, reopening to harvest Aug. 1. Links for more information: Amberjack [MyFWC.com] Bay Scallop Action: Season opens June 27 Information: The bay scallop season, which is recreational only, opens June 27. The season will be open from the Pasco-Hernando county line through the west bank of the Mexico Beach Canal in Bay County. The season will remain open through Sept. 24. There is a daily bag limit of 2 gallons of whole bay scallops in the shell or one pint of meat per person with a maximum of 10 gallons of whole bay scallops in the shell or ½ gallon bay scallop meat per vessel.
