Health Department seeks restaurants to partner in Healthy Choices Restaurant Program

The local health department is looking for area restaurants to partner in a new program designed to help diners make smarter, more informed decisions about their nutritional health.
Currently over 60% of Franklin County adults and nearly 40% of adolescents are considered obese or overweight.
Overweight and obesity are major risk factors for many of the leading causes of death and disease in the U.S. including heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and certain types of cancer.
To help combat these growing numbers, the Department of Health in Franklin County has initiated the Healthy Choices Restaurant Program.
It’s a countywide program with the health department and local restaurant to identify existing healthy menu fare and to highlight their various nutritional profiles.
The health department will spotlight the Partner Restaurants and help promote their selected healthy menu items.

If you are a restaurant owner who is interested in spotlighting your healthy menu fare, you can join the Healthy Choices Restaurant Program by contacting David Walker at 653-2111 ext. 119.
