Spence Massey was sentenced Tuesday
to 30 days in jail and 6 months probation for a number of misdemeanor charges
he was convicted of earlier this month.
Massey,
who once served as a Franklin County sheriff’s deputy and Carrabelle police
officer was arrested after he was caught on video burglarizing items from boats
being stored at the Lanark Village boatyard.
He
was also charged with two third-degree felony counts for burglary of marine
radios but was not convicted on those charges.
Mister
Massey will also be required to pay 900 dollars in restitution.
And
he’s not completely off the hook yet.
He
is still facing charges of retaliation against a witness causing property
damage for returning to the boatyard and damaging the video equipment there.
The
sheriff’s department said they believe the incident was an act of retaliation
against the boat yard for providing video to authorities during the original
burglaries in 2014.
