Franklin County Commissioners have will hold a public
hearing on Tuesday to discuss abandoning two county roads on St. George Island.
The
roads are called Wefing Street and Austin Street; they are off of East Pine
Avenue.
The
roads run through property that is owned by the 1st Baptist Church
of Apalachicola – there is currently a church and retreat center there.
The
county has never maintained the roads, and the church says they have no public
use.
Bu
the public does have the right to speak for or against the abandonment and can
do so tomorrow.
Commissioners
on Tuesday will also open qualifications from companies that want to serve as
the consulting engineers for the Apalachicola airport and they will hear from
the Riparian Stakeholder coalition on issues with the Apalachicola
Chattahoochee Flint River System.
Tuesday’s
meeting will be held in Carrabelle.
It
will begin at 10 AM at the Carrabelle Municipal complex.
