Watch out for horses on Highway 67 in Carrabelle

If you are driving along Highway 67 in Carrabelle watch out for horses.
The Animal control department says it has been getting some heavy calls recently because of horses along the Highway.
Animal control director Fonda Davis said the county doesn’t have a place to house the horses so they have been doing their best to catch the animals and return them to their owners.
Commissioner Cheryl Sanders said that a recent brush clearing program along the power lines exposed a lot of old fence where the horses are kept and the horses are not able to get loose.
She said the horses have sometimes managed to get as far as Lake Morality and Lanark Village.

Animal control has been in touch with the owners to try to fix the fences, but until that’s done the county has agreed to place some signs along the highway warning drivers to watch out for horses.
