County
Commissioners on Tuesday prioritized and submitted three projects to the
legislature that they would like to see funded in next year’s state budget.
The
county’s top priority is to find money to repair the Lift Station that serves
the Franklin County Jail and Landfill.
Eastpoint
water and sewer administrator Billy Fuentes said that is about a 300 thousand
dollar project that would include new pumps and a new piping system.
He
said every day that the lift station does not get fixed it presents an even
bigger problem.
The
Eastpoint Water and Sewer district said it would provide a letter of support
for that project.
The
county also agreed to seek funding to repair and improve the park at Carrabelle
beach.
Much of
the park at Carrabelle beach was built in the 1950’s and age and seawater are
taking their toll.
And
the county agreed to seek funding for the Camp Gordon Johnston World War 2
museum.
That
group is seeking money to build a new 6000 square foot museum at Carrabelle
beach.
The
Camp Gordon Johnston group also requested state funding last year and it was
approved by the legislature, but was vetoed by Governor Rick Scott.
