Design phase of Carrabelle sidewalk project get the go-ahead

County commissioners have agreed to begin the design phase for a sidewalk project in Carrabelle.

The County is overseeing a project to install about 2.2 miles of sidewalk along Highway 67 from Avenue A to Crooked Creek Road.

The design work will happen this year; the construction on the sidewalks will begin in 2017. 

Franklin County hired Inovia Consulting out of Tallahassee to provide the design and engineering services.

On Tuesday the board signed the final contract needed to get the design work started.

Commissioner Cheryl Sanders said a lot of people have come to her with ideas for the sidewalk and she hopes those ideas will be considered during the design of the project.
