Running for the Bay Marathon returns to Franklin county on Sunday

There will be hundreds of runners converging on Franklin County Sunday to take part in the annual “Running for the Bay” Marathon.
Besides a full 26 mile marathon, the event also includes an ultra marathon, half marathon, a 10 K run and a 5K run.
People taking part in the full Marathon will run from Apalachicola to St. George Island and back again.
They will be running in the safety lane of the bridges, so car traffic will not be affected though drivers are being asked to drive very carefully.
The marathon is the brainchild of Mark Henderson of Decatur, Georgia.
The event is donating 2500 dollars to Franklin’s Promise to help with bay related issues.
People are being encouraged to take part, you can even walk if you like and there are wheelchair divisions.

You can register on-line at runningforthebay.com.
