Franklin County has
agreed to cut
the membership of its RESTORE Council down to 7 people.
The RESTORE council was
originally created as a 13 member board to consider projects proposed for funding
through any money Franklin County receives from fines levied on BP because of
the 2010 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
On Tuesday, Franklin County’s RESTORE coordinator
Alan Pierce recommended that the RESTORE council be whittled down to 7 members
to meet Federal treasury department guidelines.
He added that other counties have already done the
same thing.
County commissioners will name 5 of the members, 2 will be appointed
by the Cities of Apalachicola and Carrabelle.
The board also approved a list of members that includes Lynn Martina who
will fill the tourism seat and Otis Amison will represent fisheries.
Rose
Mccoy will fill the economic development seat and Erik Lovestrand will represent
environmental issues.
The
county will still have to name someone to the non-governmental seat.
The
City of Carrabelle will be represented by City Mayor Brenda LaPaz –
Apalachicola has yet to officially name its representative.
