Apalachicola man killed in semi crash in Wakulla County

An Apalachicola man was killed Monday in a single vehicle accident in Wakulla County.
47 year old Ramond Lockley was killed at 4:40 Monday afternoon when the semi truck and trailer he was driving went off the road and collided with some trees.
The Highway patrol said Mister Lockley was heading east on Highway 98 and was just east of Woodville Highway when the accident occurred.
Wakulla Fire and rescue reported that witnesses said the driver appeared to have some sort of emergency that might have caused him to leave the roadway into a dense wooded area taking down several large trees.
Firefighters arrived to find the cab fully involved and fire had already spread to the box trailer.
Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control while working in dangerous conditions including diesel feed flames and trees that were partially uprooted and hanging above the crash site.

Highway 98 east of St. Marks and west of Newport was closed for several hours after the crash.
