The county has done some temporary
repairs to the boat ramp at the end of ferry Dock Road in Eastpoint and hope to
find some grant money to do more substantial work over the next few years.
The public works
department said it has added some rock to the foot of the ramp to keep trailers
from getting hung up and damaged.
The ramp has already
claimed a few trailers – its being pretty heavily used at this time because of
the reshelling program.
The
county said the repairs are only temporary, but the county has agreed to apply
for a state boating improvement grant this spring to pay for more substantial
work.
Alan
Pierce said if the county gets the grant it will probably allow for engineering
in 2016 and the actual repairs in 2017.
