25 stranded sea turtles to be released at SGI State park on Thursday

Over 25 Sea Turtles will be released at St. George Island State Park on Thursday.
Gulf World Marine Institute in Panama City will release the turtles on Thursday morning beginning at 11 AM.
The turtles are from about 50 that were recently rescued from a cold snap in New England on December the 30th.
These turtles were flown by private plane from New England to Panama City where they were triaged over-night and then moved into individual pools at regulated temperatures.
The remaining cold stunned sea turtles are continuing to be treated for secondary illnesses and will be released soon.
The Institute will also release a Loggerhead sea turtle and a Kemps Ridley sea turtle that stranded around Thanksgiving and were treated for pneumonia.

The public is invited to attend this release – the event will take place behind the main parking lot.
