Franklin County commissioners on
Tuesday will open qualifications from companies who would like to provide local
probation services.
That work is currently handled by
a private company call Florida Probation Services – they have operated
locally since 2011.
The company collects
payments from people on probation and monitors community service hours.
The contract between Franklin County and
Florida Probation Services ends on March 16th so commissioners voted
in January to see whether any other probation companies can offer the county a
better deal.
There are a few other items of interest
on Tuesday’s County Commission agenda, including a discussion with the Eastpoint
Medical center, a federally Qualified health center in Franklin county.
The County Commission will also hold a
workshop tomorrow afternoon to discuss senior citizens services and funding –
local seniors have seen a number of services end recently because of funding
issues.
The workshop will include the Area
Agency on Aging as well as a number of local service providers.
You can see the full county commission
agenda on-line at oysterradio.com.
The commission meeting will begin at 9
tomorrow morning at the Courthouse annex in Apalachicola.
The workshop will begin at 1:30.
