Franklin County road paving project moving ahead
Franklin County’s county-wide road paving project should begin in earnest in about a week or so.
The road paving project includes about 7 miles of roads spread across every county commission district.
CW Roberts out of Hosford was selected to do the work – they have until mid-July to complete the paving.
On Tuesday, company spokesman bob Flowers told County commissioners that base work will begin on the western end of the county in the next two weeks, and will likely begin in the eastern end of the county by mid-March.
The company plans to have two crews working and said they should have no problem finishing the work on time.
This is the first county-wide road paving project in about 6 years and is costing a little over 1.7 million dollars.
It is being funded through revenue from Franklin County’s 6 cent gas tax.
Franklin County is considering increasing the gas tax by another penny a gallon this year which would allow for more paving in the future.
