The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council has scheduled a meeting of its Shrimp Working Group Wednesday, March 2, 2016, from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. The meeting will be held at the Gulf Council office, 2203 N. Lois Avenue, Suite 1100, in Tampa, Florida.
The group will discuss appropriate methodology and data needs for evaluating aggregate Maximum Sustainable Yield (MSY) and Optimum Yield (OY) for all shrimp species. MSY is the largest long-term average catch or yield that can be taken from a stock or stock complex under prevailing ecological and environmental conditions. OY is the amount of fish harvested that will provide the greatest overall benefit to the nation.
