The Florida Department of
Education recognized 4 Franklin County School District teachers and 6 Gulf
County School District teachers for their “high-impact” in the classroom.
Franklin county teachers that were recognized include Lindsey
Bockelman, Audrey Gay, Karen Ward and Tara Ward.
In Gulf County they are Janice Ann Adkison, Anita Askew, Jeannie
Ford, Kristal Smallwood, Brenda Wood and Misty wood.
Each
teacher received a congratulatory letter this week telling them that their efforts
provide inspiration and opportunities to young people that may have been
otherwise inaccessible.
The
state determined the high-impact teachers based on how their students
performed on statewide exams over a 3-year period and the growth of the
students from one year to the next.
The state limited high-impact distinction to those who taught
courses measured with the Value Added Model which includes reading for
grades four through 10, mathematics forgrades four through eight and Algebra 1
for grades eight and nine.
