Florida providing hunting opportunities for wounded veterans

The State of Florida is providing some opportunities for wounded veterans to get outdoors on state lands.

Eligible veterans can take part in the Operation Outdoor Freedom program, which equips designated areas to accommodate the special needs of wounded veterans.

Since the program was established in 2011, Operation Outdoor Freedom has hosted more than 1600 wounded veterans on 10 different state forests.

There are currently a number of excursions planned around the state including 13 turkey hunts ranging from North Florida to South Florida, several saltwater and freshwater fishing trips as well as alligator and deer hunts, quail hunts, kayaking and canoeing.

Veterans can learn more about the opportunities and eligibility and apply to participate at OperationOutdoorFreedom.com.
