FWC investigating vessel accident in Destin; numerous injuries, one missing



The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), in conjunction with Okaloosa County Sherrif’s Office, Bay County Sherrif’s Office, Panama City Fire Department and the U.S. Coast Guard, are responding to the scene of a vessel accident that occurred this morning at the Destin jetty.
FWC dispatch received notification at 6:08 a.m. of a vessel accident at the east Destin jetty, in which 11 people had been aboard. Ten people have been accounted for from the accident and one female occupant of the vessel remains missing. Four people from the vessel accident were transported to area hospitals for treatment. A multi-agency search and rescue operation, led by the FWC, is underway for the missing passenger, and the FWC dive team is responding to the accident site.
The FWC is investigating to determine the cause and nature of the boating accident.
