Local unemployment up slightly in February

Unemployment in Franklin County nudged up slightly in February.

Local unemployment was 4.6 percent last month – below the state average of 4.9 percent.

Labor statistics released last week show 213 people were looking for work in Franklin County in February, 17 fewer than the month before.

The workforce also decreased by 36 people.

Gulf County unemployment was listed at 4.5 percent – down from 5.1 percent the month before.

269 people were looking for work in Gulf County in February.

Wakulla County had one of the lowest unemployment rates in Florida at 4.1 percent, in Liberty county unemployment remained at 5 percent.
