Panhandle Probation Services to take over local probation services

There will soon be a new company providing probation services in Franklin County.

County Commissioners this week agreed to begin negotiations with a company called Panhandle Probation Services out of Panama City.

The company will collect payments from people on misdemeanor probation and monitor community service hours.

The company was one of three that provided qualifications for the services.

They will replace Florida probation Services which operated locally since 2011.

The contract between Franklin County and Florida Probation Services ended on March 16^th.

County attorney Michael Shuler said he will draw up a three year contract for the new company.
