Being a
safe boater will soon save you money on Florida.
Governor Rick Scott last week signed legislation
which reduces the registration fees for vessels that are equipped with safety
features like an emergency indicator radio beacon or a personal locator beacon.
The discounts can range from about 4
dollars for boats under 12 feet to over 165 dollars for boats over 65 feet.
The law will take effect on July the
1st.
The bill was introduced this year
following the loss of two Florida teenagers last July who disappeared while
sailing from Jupiter Inlet.
The governor said the law will help
ensure that this kind of tragedy never happens again.
