Smoke Hazard Possible from Prescribed Fire

TALLAHASSEE, Fla., Apr 11, 2016—For Immediate Release. Due to an unexpected wind shift, the U.S. Forest Service is concerned about smoke lingering on roads in and around the Apalachicola National Forest from a prescribed fire conducted today.

Smoke is likely to accumulate on State Road 20 through the night and the morning hours. There could also be accumulations on Interstate 10 west between Tallahassee and Panama City.

Motorists are cautioned to drive slowly with lights on while traveling in smoky areas. Drivers should be particularly cautious in areas where it is foggy. Morning and evening fog can mix with smoke and decrease visibility further.
