Butts and Clucks cook-off raises 2000 dollars for Weems Hospital

The community turned out Saturday for the Weems Memorial Foundation and its annual Butts and Clucks Cook-off by the Bay.

The event raised about 2000 dollars which will help purchase new equipment for Weems Memorial Hospital.

The Pogy Road Porkers headed by Joel Norred won the Grand Champion award this year.

Second place overall went to the Bite Me Deli Team.

The Chamber of Commerce 10-4 BBQ team took first place in the chicken competition and Crombie’s Smoke Crew took first place in the pork cook-off.

The Inglorious Basters Team won Best Display and the People’s Choice Award went to the Big Top Supermarket Team.

Weems Memorial Foundation president John Solomon said he would like to thank all of the teams and community members who attended the event or volunteered their time because every dollar matters.
