Wakulla County Seeks Input from Citizens for the One Cent Sales Tax Extension

Crawfordville, Florida – The Wakulla County Board of County Commissioners is seeking input from its citizens on the One Cent Sales Tax Extension.  The One Cent Sales Tax will go to the voters at the General Election on November 8, 2016 for extension.

County staff has developed a survey to obtain citizen input in an effort to provide the Board of County Commissioners (Board) with recommendations on the funding levels of future projects.  The current funding levels of the One Cent Sales Tax are as follows:
  • 45% Transportation
  • 23% Public Facilities/Infrastructure
  • 22% Public Safety
  • 10% Public Parks and Recreation

“This survey is vital in helping us determine how to improve the quality of life for our citizens.  It also allows us to provide the citizen’s recommendations to the Board to decide if there’s a need to amend the current proportions prior to placing the extension on the ballot, says County Administrator, David Edwards.”

A webpage (www.mywakulla.com/onecentsalestaxextension/index.php) has been developed to provide information on the One Cent Sales Tax, and will be updated throughout the process.  Additionally, County staff will be holding several town hall meetings throughout the County to provide citizens with information on the One Cent Sales Tax and to gain their input.  These dates and locations will be announced soon.

The survey can be obtained from the County webpage listed above or can be found at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/NK6P7YC.  Anyone with questions should contact Jessica Welch at (850) 926-0919 orjwelch@mywakulla.com.
