2016 Hurricane season off to a busy start

The 2016 Hurricane season got off to a quick start after tropical storm Colin formed in the gulf and immediately made a beeline for the Florida gulf coast.
The storm brought some high waters and strong winds.
Franklin County was not spared.
Storm surge over 2 feet was seen around most of the county and even higher waters were seen on the east end of the county between Lanark Village and the Ochlockonee River.
The storm did force the closure of Alligator Point Road.
Franklin County also called for a voluntary evacuation of low-lying areas around the county.
Governor Rick Scott did declare a state of emergency for 34 Florida counties on Monday, including Franklin and Wakulla Counties.
The Emergency Management Office should have a full damage assessment this week.
If you get your water from a well and your well was covered by flood water you should boil your water for at least one minute before using it for drinking, washing or cooking.

You should have your well water professionally tested before using it again without boiling it.
