Recreational fishing from greater amberjack opens today in state waters

                Recreational fishing for greater amberjack will re-open on August the 1st in state waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
Gulf state waters are from shore to 9 nautical miles.

Greater amberjack have been off limits to recreational fishermen since June 1st – there is a seasonal closure every summer to help rebuild and protect the amberjack population.
The bag limit for greater amberjack is one per person, and the size limit is 34 inches fork length.

Greater Amberjack will remain off limits in federal waters of the Gulf through the end of the year.
