Americans
ate more seafood in 2015.
According
to a newly released federal report on Fisheries landings and seafood
consumption, Americans ate almost 15 and a half pounds of fish and
shellfish per person.
America
now ranks as the second largest global consumer of fish and shellfish
after China.
Roughly
83 percent of our seafood was imported last year.
U.S.
consumers spent an estimated $96.0 billion dollars on seafood in
2015.
That
includes nearly 65 billion at restaurants and 31 billion dollars for
home consumption.
