Today is the final day to review Franklin County's flood plan

Today is the last day for the public to review and comment on Franklin County's Flood Mitigation Plan.

The plan is designed to help Franklin County prepare for and respond to flooding events, which do happen relatively often.

If you would like to review and comment on the county's flood mitigation plan, its available at the Franklin county Emergency Management Website at Franklinemergencymanagement.com.

It will be available at the site until the end of business today.

Currently local homeowners save 15 percent on flood insurance because of work the county does, they hope to increase that to 20 percent very soon.

To reach that goal the county has adopted better record keeping practices and implemented education and outreach programs.

Franklin county also mitigates potential flooding through continued road work and drainage maintenance around the county.
