BBB® Warning Couple Scamming Businesses Along Gulf Coast

An unidentified couple has been scamming their way across the Gulf Coast and businesses say they have lost thousands of dollars’ worth of merchandise. Local Alabama law enforcement is reporting that the couple offers a credit card which is initially declined. They then tell the business that they have life lock and ask that the card be run again using a code the couple provides. The transaction initially goes through with the (override) code only to be declined later (after the couple has left with the merchandise). Please take precautions should you have a similar situation occur at your business and contact local authorities if you think you have been a victim of this scam.
