Two people killed in head-on crash on St. George Island bridge

Two people were killed and 4 others were injured in a head-on crash on the St. George Island bridge on Saturday in an accident that stopped traffic on the bridge for nearly 7 hours.

The Highway patrol said 70 year old Robert J. Majka Sr. of Lynn Haven was killed when he drove across the center line, directly into the path of a 2007 Ford Escape.

The accident also killed the driver of the Ford Escape, 53 year old Deborah J. Roberts of Franklin, Ohio.

The Highway patrol said Majka was heading south on the St. George Island bridge just after 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon.

He had three passengers in his 2013 Ford Edge.

One of the passengers was critically injured, two others received serious injuries.

A passenger in Robert's vehicle was also seriously injured.

Because of the location of the accident, traffic was stopped going to and from St. George Island.

The bridge reopened to traffic at about 8 o'clock Saturday night.

The highway patrol did not give a reason as to why Majka drove into the wrong lane but said the accident was not alcohol related.
