Gulf Council to Hold Webinar Public Hearing for Amendment 49 - Sea Turtle Release Gear

The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council will hold a public hearing webinar to collect comments on Reef Fish Amendment 49 - Modifications to the Sea Turtle Release Gear and Framework Procedure for the Reef Fish Fishery.

The amendment considers modifying the sea turtle release requirements to allow three new approved sea turtle release gears, and clarify a minimum size limit for a current gear requirement. It also considers modifying the framework procedure to allow new gears to be approved for use without a full amendment to the fishery management plan.

The webinar will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2018, at 6:00 pm, EST.

Register for the webinar here.

The full text document and a video guide to the Amendment can be found on our Amendments Under Development web page.
