Area
1662 of the Apalachicola Bay closed to oyster harvesting at sunset
Sunday.
Area
1662 is the conditionally approved summer south area of the bay.
The
area is being closed because of high water levels in the Apalachicola
River caused by heavy rains that crossed our area last week.
The
river is expected to crest at 16.7 feet at Blountstown today.
The
high waters take a few days to make it to the Apalachicola Bay.
Biologists
will continue to sample the area and reopen it as soon as possible.
Stay
tuned to Oyster Radio for reopening information.
